Fingerless Gloves with Center Cable

 

Using Blue Sky Melange Baby Alpaca, Color 802, Lot 2425, cast on 42 sts. across three dpns.

 

Rows 1-4: 1x1 ribbing

Row 5: Increase to 48, two per needle, placed three in from either end. Now 16 per needle. Switch to stockinette.

Rows 6-25: On one of the needles, begin 6x6 backtwist cable (p2,k6,p2 with twists at 6, 13, 19, 25). At 13 and 25, increase two on each of the non-cable needles.

Rows 26-43: On rows 27 and 28, make 10-stitch thumb gore in the middle of the needle to the left of the needle holding the cable panel when knitting the right glove, and conversely for the right glove. Cables at 31, 37, 43. Decrease on the non-cable needles at 31, 37, 40.

Rows 43-48: On 45-47, use seed stitch. At 48, bind off in pattern.

Hookiform clover cable needle used for 6-row, 6-stitch, backtwist cable.
 
Roughly halfway.
 
Just about ready to bind off.
 
Like all gloves I knit, it's a little short.
 
I think placing the increases and decreases differently will help the fabric sit better on the palm.
 
The cables match up nicely...other than the glaring error at the base of the cable on the left glove.
