Harajuku Girls, Tokyo - October 2007

Harajuku Station is the subway stop for Yoyogi Park, the site of the  1964 Tokyo Olympic Village (also next to the entrance to Meiji Temple).  The site was a cross secton for international cultures to meet during the Olypmics and today represents the center for Japanese youth to shop and gather.

On Sundays afternoons, Japanese youth -- mainly young girls -- vamp in  gothic styles to hear hard rock music performed by groups in similarly bizarre dress.

Japanese street artists also gather at Harajuku Station Sunday afternoons to draw and sell colorful cartoon images in the graphic manga style comic books.

It's dusk and curfew time when all good little Harajuku girls must leave for home to wait for next Sunday's gathering.
