FPL Energy

The electrical substation and switchyard several miles south of HQ which connects to the Clovis -- Albuquerque powerline http://www.tabblo.com/studio/stories/view/361502/

The standby generator in the HQ parking lot to keep the control system running (if the wind quits blowing?). Beyond the windmills to the west is the Pecos Valley. They sit on the escarpment a few hundred feet above the valley.

The operation of the wind mills posted at headquarters.

Details about the project. They don't mention the disadvantages: not dispatchable, depends on wind, and bird kills. FPL Energy is Florida Power & Light's parent corporation.

Lifting a rotor assembly onto the mast (My apologies for the lighting)

That's over 19, 000 pounds the crane is setting, not including the bolt ring!

The location of this wind farm. Don't be mislead by the caps; House is only about five residences.

This is so interesting. Not long ago we passed some trucks on the highway that were hauling a turbine to a site. Each blade of the turbine was on a separate truck and each was huge. When you see those things in the distance it is hard to get a feel for the size. Besides providing electricity, I find wind farms lovely to look at. Informative tabblo, as always.
