Jean and I went for a 2 hour walk on Lantau Island (Hong Kong's biggest island) on Saturday. We got the ferry to Discovery Bay and walked over the hills to Silvermine Bay where we got a ferry back. We initially thought the walk was a loop, but realised about half-way through that the path just kept going up up up and over the hills. The walk took us past the Trappist Monastery, famous for establishing the Trappist Dairy (one of the biggest local dairies in HK). We didn't see any dairy cows, however - I think the dairy was bought out a few years ago and the cows moved to China.
The sign above right says: “Do not put your waste onto the ground. Put them into the bin or else.”
Below: This was just the start of the uphill part of the walk - I turned back to catch my breath and saw this puppy enjoying the view.
Right: Apparently the Trappist monks used this land rover to transport their milk up and down the hills. Don't think it's been used in a while.

Above: Some overgrown building at the top of the wooded part of the hill. After this we climbed up to the open top of the hill.
Below: The view back from where we came. You can see the Trappist monks' chapel, which itself is already high up on a hill. We weren't really expecting to do so much climbing!
Right: At the top!
