You might be asking yourself what program creates this kind of enthralled attention from children. Well, the answer is easy: NATURE CLUB! Mrs. Debbie provides our community with monthly Nature Club programs, which are creating budding environmentalists in our library. |

First on the agenda at Nature Club is current events. Mrs. Debbie talks with the kids about what's going on with the earth, like the oil spill in San Francisco. She gives them information while she passes around printed images of the environmental effects the spill has had. Kids and parents alike are shocked. |

Autumn is upon us and Mrs. Debbie brought in Indian corn to show the club members, who were quick to guess some of the many uses for it. |

Next up, Mrs. Debbie showed them what they could find in the newest issue of Ranger Rick, her favorite magazine. There was much excitement about some strange and wonderful birds, the ringtailed lemurs, and the underside of a stingray. |

A stack full of new books were shown to the kids, and Mrs. Debbie was rewarded with many ooohs and ahhhs for the series of extreme animals, the swamp book, and the large book about North American animals. Pictures were the key. |

In addition to books, Mrs. Debbie recommended some websites to visit for more information about nature. Sometimes discussions even ensued. |

With a last minute change of plans due to a technological snafu, they weren't going to be able to watch "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving". Instead, Mrs. Debbie read one of her favorite books to the group, Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving, which I think they enjoyed just as much. |

Awaiting the Nature Club at the craft tables to the side was a very cute bag that they were to glue pieces to and reconstruct the scarecrow's face. |

When all the hard work was done, Nature Club members were treated to some popcorn and Kit-Kats, although I can't imagine that was even close to being the highlight. Being a nature lover reaps its own rewards! |
