While driving a country road between Durlach and Fritztown, PA yesterday, I saw these two horses in the corral of an Amish farmer. His fields were across the road; his old weathered barn and simple home are now surrounded by newly constructed brick houses of more secular neighbors.

These magnificent sturdy steeds commanded I stop to photograph them in the early morning light, and I gratefully obeyed.
