My Hometown, Tampere

Tampere, my hometown, 6.12.2007.  In the shots Raatihuone (the City Hall), Hämeenkatu, the mainstreet, Hämeensilta which is a bridge over Tammerkoski which is a rapids that goes from Näsijärvi to Pyhäjärvi in the very center of Tampere. "Järvi" means lake in english. My town has  beautiful Christmas-lightnings too.

I looked at the tourist site. It must really be a very nice place to live in, with alla those lakes and not too big. And, I saw, not very cold yet. Thanks. Ciao

Thanks :)
Yes, Deb, I took the snaps yesterday around 19.00. (We almost missed the fireworks. In Tampere there is always a great fireworks in the city every Independence day) But the town seems to be empty in my shots. Of course the shops are closed, it's a day off to us all, 6.12. And it is also a great habit to the most of us to go quickly back home to watch TV. There is a live sending from President's castle from Helsinki. Approximately 2000 guests every year, it is a great honour if one gets an invitation. And yes, it is possible to an ordinary person too. Of course there are the elected members of the parliament (200)avec and diplomats etc.
BUT what kind of evening gowns the ladies were! That is the POINT of watching it from TV!! (you should see our newspapers today and the magazines next week. Gosh!) :))

Krisu -- I always love seeing YOUR tabblos! Thanks for inviting. Night shots are really hard and these are gorgeous, love the light on the water and on the water on the streets. You're from a beautiful place, I guess that's why you can see beauty around you and capture it so well! Bellisimo, felicitaciones.
