Saranac Lake, NY: Late '70's, Winter

The movie theater burned down in the winter. The roof is gone and the water from the hoses froze on whatever remained. Cheech and Chong's "Up in Smoke" was playing at the time.

Beautiful images. They really capture the feel of a time and place. I really like the high view image of the boy running and the two walking on the frozen lake.

ok. now i am ready. i like #3 a lot. the light gives it a feeling of small town early 60's. The muscle cars everywhere are a treat for me. The POV from above on #7,8 & 9(wow, the footprints!), and they way you take us out to the country in the B&W in #6. weathered wood, one of my favorite film subjects. The abandoned theatre, again in B&W and L O V E the hitchhiker. that shot remends me of the movie Buffalo 66 for some reason. G R E A T set, Allan. Thanks for the trip. This is really cool in SLIDESHOW

This is a really cool tabblo! I'm in love with #2 - one of those pictures that are so hard to get, it's so much about catching the moment. Which you did in a beautiful way. I absolutely love it! It has "IT" =)

Here I am back for another look! Each of these images could stand alone but the combination in a tabblo is truly outstanding, one of the best. I think #2 is my favourite but the hitchhiker and the one of two people walking across the snow covered field are close runners-up. The contrast of the clouds and the snow is so striking. Great work...

I too, find your images intriguing. The sadness of the theater whose roof has given away to the weight of snow says to me, what has happen that this town that let this happen to this theater, a center of the towns culture? I like your work here and what you have captured. Thank you.

Whoa! These are excellent! The second and third shots blew me away. Incredible work, I love the angle in the second, and how it creates a tension ... as if you've captured a moment in some drama of some sort or another, and the colour and nostalgia of the third shot is simply beautiful. Everyone of these is a stand along work of art! ... the foot prints in the snow around the lamp posts, the snow covered staircase beside it, the textured old wood and brick wall, the grainy frozen lake, and the snow covered theater seats... Everyone tells a story, and together they have the effect of a full feature film. Great work!
