Clouds Over the Sangres

Another day of dramatic weather in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Colorado. The picture above has Lookout Mountain on the right; this is only three miles from us. The Sangres in the background were completely obscured by blowing clouds and snow. The moon is barely visible; I was hoping I could bring it out more but the sky and snow were too bright.

From this perspective, the extreme right (below) is directly west of us and the farthest mountains are about 25 miles away to the south (bottom). It isn't often the wind blows along the length of the mountain range, creating a unique pattern. There was no way to tell what was clouds and what was snow. it was all one big swirl of white.

You took some incredible pictures! All that blue sky and then all that turmoil over the mountains. Cool.

Magnifique Charlie, ces montagnes enveloppées de neige et de nuages sont magiques. Bonne année, salut mon ami
