Last night I went to a building called the "KoelnTriangle", which is a 29-story office building across the Rhine from downtown Cologne. For 3 euros, you can ride the elevator up to the observation deck and have a nice view of the city and the river.
I got there just before sunset. All day, the weather had been strange-- hot and hazy, with storms in the area but not in Cologne. Just before sunset, a front came through.
All of this weather stuff added up to some of the strangest light I think that I've ever seen at sunset. These images are NOT retouched, although they are somewhat more blue than the scene really looked to the eye. But it was pretty darned "blue" to the eye, too. (I think that the digital camera was having trouble adjusting the Auto White Balance in the strange, fading light.)
Anyway, I think that these pictures turned out pretty cool. |
