I accidentally deleted this last night, and am very pleased to tell you that the tech support people at tabblo were able to restore it. Kudos!

Great shots. I showed it to my youngest son René (who has his own tabblo account), age 9. He wants to go wrestling too. But overhere there are not so many wrestlingschools, so we'll have to go and see what the opportunities are.

Anjad, over here many public high schools (grade 9-12) and "junior high" schools (grades 7-8) offer wrestling as one of many sports kids can compete in (others include "American football," baseball, soccer, track, golf, and basketball). The actual rules of the sport are a little different than the "Greco-Roman" or "Freestyle" you may see in Olympic competition, but most of it is very similar, with the object to get your opponent on his back, both shoulder blades touching the mat. That is why you see the referees down on the floor looking like that.

My boys got started wrestling when they were close to Rene's age (the younger one was 10 and his older brother was 13), by joining a local club open to kids age 4 to 14. I didn't know much about the sport at the time, but the leaders taught them the basics, and they got some experience competing against other kids their age and size. That's the great thing about this sport--anyone of any size can do well, because they are only allowed to compete against someone else close to their weight. However, to do well, you not only must be in excellent physical condition, you need to understand the rules, the moves, and how to escape from the various precarious positions you might find yourself it.

Good luck to Rene'! I hope you find a club or class and learn this challenging and exciting sport.
